About Us

Established in 1996 within the Faculty of Marine Sciences at Karadeniz Technical University in Sürmene, the Deck Department graduated its first students in 2000; in subsequent years, it adopted the name Maritime Transportation Management Engineering (DUİM) and achieved a respected position in Turkish maritime education. As an extension of this deep-rooted academic legacy, the Karadeniz Technical University Maritime Transportation Management Engineering Department Alumni Association was founded in 2013 through the dedicated initiatives of our first graduates. Currently headquartered in Istanbul, our association's office is located in Kadıköy.

Our association is more than just an alumni community; it is a strong solidarity platform that keeps the maritime culture, professional ethical values, and corporate belonging alive. The social, professional, and sectoral events implemented since its establishment have created lasting bonds among our graduates, strengthened the interaction between academia and the sector, and created a sustainable synergy with the Turkish maritime community.

Today, the KTU DUİM Alumni Association brings together its graduates working at sea, on land, and in decision-making positions within the sector on a common ground; It is a dynamic structure that carries experience, knowledge, and vision into the future.

With our bonds strengthening year after year, we continue on our path with an understanding that not only cherishes our past but also aims to build the future together.

Our Mission

As the KTU DUIM Alumni Association, our mission is:

To establish a continuous and strong communication network among our graduates, creating a sustainable bridge from our first graduates to our young colleagues,

To keep post-graduation togetherness alive; to create platforms that encourage professional knowledge sharing, career development, and experience transfer,

To contribute to our country's maritime culture, education, and sectoral development by preserving maritime customs, traditions, and practices,

To develop project-based collaborations with our graduates on national and international maritime platforms,

To act with a sense of social responsibility; to stand by our department students through education, scholarship, and support programs and to produce social benefit.
